You know sometimes you see fabric online and fall in love, only to have it disappoint when it arrives. And other times you’re not sure about something, but get completely blown away by how stunning it is in your hands. Well let me tell you this Anna Maria Horner fabric is gorgeous enough on the computer screen, but you really will never understand its beauty until you have hold of it and run it through your fingers as you dream about things to create.
I felt kind of weird making a bin out of this fabric – but I needed something under my cutting table for scraps, and since my cutting table is in my entry hall it needed to be beautiful.
I think it’s beautiful (actually I keep bending under my table to admire it!).
I have other plans for this fabric – bags keep springing to mind. I’m just waiting for a Japanese pattern book to arrive and I will be eagerly cutting in to some more of this gorgeous collection.
Of course you can get yourself some of this fabulous fabric here!.
Here’s my first creation using this fabulous fabric by Melissa Averinos:
I made this size 3 skirt using two half yards of fabric (with a little of the contrasting green left over), although a size four would take a yard to keep the fullness (it is based on a pattern from one of my favourite Japanese pattern books).
You can buy this particular skirt (there’s only 1!) from the Earthgirl Store, or you can get yourself a piece or two of Sugar Snap and create your own :)
Make sure you send me a picture of what you make with your Sugar Snap fabric!
I am so excited to be opening my store soon! The store is working, so if you have stumbled upon Earthgirl Fabrics in your travels across the internet then please feel free to place an order and I have will have it packed and on it’s way to you in no time at all. Before the store is officially launched I am attending to some cosmetic issues – that is when I’m not sewing up the fabric from the store. Oops! Don’t worry – there’s plenty left, and there’s more on the way. I’ll keep this blog updated with my creations as I finish them. For now though it’s back to fixing up the store….
